Hello everybody and welcome to our webpage. Surfinikaria was created to promote
the beautiful island of Ikaria, the Ikarian people and their way of life. The
idea of creating this web page has followed the opening of the Internet Cafe, “K@fenio” just over a year ago in village of Chirstos, Rahes. Apart from providing access
to the internet and other such services like faxing, scanning, photocopying,
printing of photos, business cards, advertisement posters etc., our Internet
Cafe will also display and sell some of the work of Ikarian artists and those
artists that visit Ikaria , because of an affiliation they have developed due
to their love of this special island.
On this website you will find various information from how to get to and from
Ikaria, what you can do while here, some useful tips to help you if you are planning to stay here, where to stay,
shops of the island, and how to move around. Generally, you will find
information on this site from the point of view of foreigners that have
visited, that return every year and that have chosen to make Ikaria their home.
We also aim to show visitors to our website how to obtain information on getting to know
Ikaria from someone who did not have any connection with the island, and did
not even realise its existence until the day they arrived here and decided to
stay. So maybe somehow we will manage to answer questions like ‘Why Ikaria?’ and ‘What does it have to offer?’, and then you will simply have to come here and discover it for yourself.
